The ALMAR is committed to ensuring that all aspects of its operations, including diamond mining and sales of rough diamonds, comply with international and Russian standards. Diamonds mined by the company are conflict-free and are under the control and guarantees of the Kimberley process certification scheme.
Kimberley process
The Russian Federation has joined the international certification and guarantee system known as the Kimberley process certification scheme (KPCS) and the guarantee system. The KPCS is a joint initiative of the governments the diamond industry and non-governmental organizations, which imposes extensive requirements on its member countries so that they can certify the origin of their rough diamonds and prevent illegal or “conflict” diamonds from entering the legal trade. The guarantee system is a continuation of the Kimberley process, where diamond traders provide a written guarantee on all invoices that diamonds are not in conflict. All warranties given or received must be verified and agreed upon on an annual basis. The guarantee system ensures that diamonds come from non-conflict sources all the way to the diamond jewelry retailer.
Gokhran of Russia
ALMAR sales of rough diamonds is under control of the GOKHRAN OF RUSSIA (Federal Government Institution “State Institution on Formation of the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of the Russian Federation”). The control system includes control over quality of sorting and evaluating gems, including transactions with raw precious stones, inspection of observance of requirements of the international certification scheme of rough diamonds and the Kimberley process.
Responsible Jewellery Council
The company is working towards becoming a member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), which develops responsible, ethical, environmental and social practices across the diamond chain, from mining to retail. The majority of diamond mining companies, large diamond dealers, cutting and jewelry enterprises, as well as jewelry retailers became members of the Council.
